Spoken Word-Storyteller, Poet, Coach, Producer, and teacher

In 1981, I launched my storytelling career by memorizing the poem Ulysses by Alfred Lord Tennyson. I started with Ulysses because I loved poetry and few people were telling poems as stories during that time. Ulysses was about traveling on the land and in the heart.

From there, I cofounded a company called Poetry Alive!. The aim was to tell poems like stories to audiences kindergarten through college, and beyond. (I memorized over 500 poems.) Even though I sold my part of Poetry Alive! in the mid-90's, the business continues to this day presenting poems to students (10 million and counting) around the globe.

After Poetry Alive!, I continued to build my spoken word storytelling career. In 1995, I started working with Julia Cameron, author of The Artist's Way.  Julia invited me to co-produce The Artist's Way Creativity Camp in Taos, NM. Participants and teachers came from all over the country. I still bump into people who tell me how much they treasure the silk creativity pillow they made during their time in Taos.

Since then, I've produced hundreds of  Imaginative Form creativity, storytelling, poetry and prose workshops around the globe. Like Ulysses says, "I am a part of all that I have met."  Today, spoken word storytelling calls to me more than ever.  It's a joy to share this work with you.

Currently, I'm the director of The Taos Storytelling Festival and The Taos Poetry Festival. I'm  a founding member of The TEDxNewYork Salon. I host Twice 5 Miles Radio: Fertile Ground for Conversations Worth Having on WPVM 103.7 FM. I broadcast three shows a week. I'm on the advisory board of The LEAF, one of America's finest cultural arts festivals based in Asheville, NC. I hold an MFA in poetry from Vermont College.

I've worked with such diverse companies as Timex, Pepsi, the National University of Ireland, Galway, North Carolina Outward Bound, Gettliffe Architecture, International Schools around the world, Create Oklahoma, Adidas, LKB Coaching Associates, Paris, Adrian Leeds Real Estate Group, Paris, and The Open Center, NYC.
